ToneCraft Brings AI-Assisted Guitar Tone Creation to macOS and Windows

ToneCraft has launched version 1.0.5 of its AI-powered guitar multi-effects plugin, giving musicians a new way to create and recreate guitar tones directly inside a digital audio workstation. The plugin is available for both Windows and macOS and combines conventional effects processing with AI-assisted tone generation.

Rather than building a guitar sound entirely from scratch, ToneCraft allows users to describe the tone they are looking for or provide an audio reference. Its Text to Tone feature interprets natural-language descriptions and generates a corresponding collection of effect settings. This can be used to explore everything from clean and blues-oriented sounds to heavier or more atmospheric guitar textures.

The second AI feature, Audio to Tone, works from a reference guitar stem. Users can upload a guitar recording and have ToneCraft generate effect settings based on the reference. When the desired sound comes from a full song, ToneCraft also provides web-based tools for selecting a section and isolating the guitar stem before importing it into the plugin.

Once a tone has been generated, musicians can still modify the individual parameters manually. ToneCraft is built around six effects: overdrive, distortion, three-band EQ, chorus, delay, and reverb, with 16 adjustable parameters available for shaping the resulting sound. This means the AI-generated starting point does not prevent users from continuing to fine-tune the tone to match their instrument, playing style, or production.

The plugin also includes factory presets and allows users to save their own customized tones. It can therefore be used not only for AI-assisted sound creation but also as an all-in-one guitar effects processor within a compatible DAW.

ToneCraft 1.0.5 is offered as a VST3 plugin on Windows, while Mac users can access both VST3 and Audio Unit (AU) versions. The plugin currently uses an open-access model, although downloading and using it requires creating a free ToneCraft account. An internet connection is also required for activation and the AI features.

With its combination of traditional effects processing and AI-based tone generation, ToneCraft is aimed at guitarists who want to spend less time starting from complex effect chains and more time experimenting with usable sounds. The plugin is currently available through ToneCraft's website.
