Austrian Audio has announced the public beta testing of the latest version of its plug-in for use with the OC818 and OC-S10 microphones.
PolarDesigner 3 is a post-processing tool that provides the ability to modify the polar pattern of recorded signals across five frequency bands, offering detailed control and flexibility. This functionality allows users to explore creative sound shaping, particularly with acoustic material.
A key focus of this update is to streamline the workflow for users. PolarDesigner 3 introduces a redesigned user interface to improve usability. In addition, a new Trim slider has been added to provide more precise control over frequency-dependent polar pattern adjustments. The plug-in is compatible with both Windows and MacOS, including native support for Apple Silicon processors and operation via Rosetta.
“We at Austrian Audio believe that the future of microphone design is the combination of the best practices in high-end physical engineering and having a pioneering spirit towards exploring the versatility of digital post-processing control,” says Austrian Audio CEO Martin Seidl. “With this public beta, we are opening the doors to our very active user community and letting them guide us towards the ultimate workflow – using our abilities as engineers and designers to speak to their needs as working creators.”
